College

Junior College

After graduating from Westminster High School, I attended Irvine Valley College.  There I began to complete my general education by fulfilling the course requirements for the University of California's IGETC program.  My major of preference was business, but that all changed during my sophomore year at IVC.

As a requirement to transfer as business major to the UC's I was had to take a course in economics.  My first course in the 2 course series was Econ 1, which was Microeconomics.  The professor of the course Mark McNeil.  Mr. McNeil can be the single factor in my decision to switch majors from business to economics.  He made the so enjoyable and made me realize that economics was a part of this world.  It's such a part of this world that until you are exposed to economics, you would have never know.  His techniques in teaching was so great because he used real life scenarios and also related it to him in so many ways.  Though most of his examples that he related to his life were made up, it was always interesting to see how and what examples he'd come up with.  I later completed the series by taking his Econ 2 class on Macroeconomics.

UCI

Finishing my GE courses, I finally transferred from IVC to attend the University of California, Irvine.  Here I am trying to complete my course requirements so that I can graduate with a degree in Economics.  At the moment, I am currently enrolled in Econ 121cw, Soc Sci 177a and Mgmt 5.

Econ 121cw is a the third in a series course that introduces the methods of data analysis and writing.  In the first two courses A and B I learned the basics in data analysis and the actual research method of conducting data analysis.  In part C I will learn how to write in a professional manner my data findings.  Soc. Sci. 177a also know as Asian Amer. Studies 101a is an introductory course about different perspectives on race and ethnicity focusing on the Asian American experience.  Mgmt 5 is an introductory course that will expose me the fundamentals to being an effective manager.

When I graduate from UCI with a degree in economics, I hope to use my knowledge and apply it to a management position at a retail store.  The techniques that I will learn from my degree will help me in researching the outcomes of certain market situations and times of the year so that I can better predict the trends in the market place.  I will also use my management minor to effectively lead my team to better serve our customers.
